H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, led the Thai delegation attending the Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2026, held from 13–15 February 2026 in Munich, Germany. He was accompanied by H.E. Ambassador Chittipat Tongprasroeth and H.E. Consul-General in Munich Prapenpim Prachonpachanuk.

On this occasion, Vice Minister Isarabhakdi had a bilateral meeting with H.E.Mr. Georg Eisenreich, Minister of Jusice of Bayern, followed by giving a keynote in a side event entitled “Scam-States and Crime Factories: Fraud Centers on an Industrial Scale in Southeast Asia,” organized by the Hanns Seidel Foundation on 12 February 2026. The discussion focused on exchanging views on the challenges posed by transnational crime and large-scale online scam centers in Southeast Asia.

In addition, Vice Minister Isarabhakdi delivered a keynote statement and participated as a panelist at the event “Between Empires: Middle Powers, Industry and the Future World Order,” organized by Asia Bridge Foundation on 14 February 2026. He underscored the role of Thailand as a middle power in strengthening the stability of the international order, promoting economic cooperation, and maintaining strategic balance amid intensifying great-power competition.

During the MSC, Vice Minister Isarabhakdi also held bilateral meetings with H.E. Mr. Gunther Krichbaum, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Mr. John Brandolino, Director-General of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as well as senior executives from leading private-sector companies, including Airbus SE, A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk). Discussions focused on promoting investment in Thailand, advancing infrastructure development, and enhancing human capital development in line with the demands of modern industries.

The participation of Thailand’s high-level delegation at MSC 2026 reflects Thailand’s strong commitment to proactively advancing its role on the international stage in addressing regional and global security issues. It also provided an important opportunity to reinforce international confidence in Thailand’s potential and to promote economic diplomacy, further integrating Thailand into the global community in all dimensions.
