On 3 December 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin hosted a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Thailand’s Father Day at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Berlin.

The event welcomed more than 400 distinguished guests, including H.E. Mr. Gunther Krichbaum, Minister of State of the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Florian Hauer, Minister of State for Federal, European and International Affairs of the State of Berlin, Dr. Joachim Bertele, Deputy Director-General for Asia and the Pacific of the Federal Foreign Office, members of the parliament, diplomatic corps, senior representatives of relevant ministries, military representatives and representatives of the Thai community.

On this occasion, a short documentary in tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother was screened, followed by a moment of silence in remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. In his remarks, H.E. Mr. Chittipat Tongprasroeth, Ambassador of Thailand to the Federal Republic of Germany, expressed profound gratitude for the benevolence of Her Majesty The Queen Mother in her lifelong dedication to poverty alleviation, environmental conservation, the preservation of Thai craftsmanship and culture. He also recalled Her Majesty’s official visits to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1960 and 1966, which marked historic milestones of Thai–German relations. Ambassador further highlighted the long-standing relationship between Thailand and Germany and outlined Thailand’s foreign policy, which has always been committed to rule-based international order, the principles of international law, human rights and international humanitarian principles. Thailand has also engaged actively and constructively in the international arena and ASEAN.

On behalf of Minister of State Krichbaum, Ambassador Bertele delivered his remarks, expressing condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and to those affected by recent devasting flooding in southern Thailand. He reaffirmed Germany’s role as a reliable partner of Thailand and commended the strong cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic dimension. He wished that Thailand and Cambodia would resolve the border situation in a peaceful manner.

Highlights of the celebration included a performance of the Royal Compositions by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great by Thai students in Germany, an authentic Thai cuisine from the Ambassador’s residence and Thai restaurants in Berlin, an AI-generated “Chud Thai” (Thai traditional dress) Photo Booth with an exhibition showcasing the royal duties of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya in promoting and preserving traditional Thai textiles, fruit carving as well as Thai cooking station and tourism promotion activities by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Frankfurt Office.

All guests were presented with goodie bags filled with Thai products generously sponsored by Thai entrepreneurs, offering a taste of Thailand to take home.
