On July 27, 2024, H.E. Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand, along with his spouse and embassy officials, participated in the 2024 Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade. This year, the event was held under the theme "Only strong together - for democracy and diversity," promoting the rights of LGBTQI+ individuals. The Embassy joined two parade caravans: the Rainbow AA of the German Federal Foreign Office/Mexican Embassy in Germany (as co-chair of the Equal Rights Coalition for 2022-2024) and the "Die Botschaft ist Liebe" group organized by the British Embassy in Germany. The parade attracted the participation of ambassadors from France, Australia, New Zealand, Malta, as well as chargé d'affaires from the United States and Mexico, and other embassy representatives in Berlin.

 

The participation of the Royal Thai Embassy aims to promote equality and the rights of LGBTQI+ individuals, building on the momentum of the Thai Senate's passage of the Marriage Equality Bill and Thailand's entry into the Equal Rights Coalition (ERC). Furthermore, it is an expression of support for advancing LGBTQI+ rights internationally, including the United Nations, while underscoring Thailand’s ambitions to host the InterPride World Conference in Phuket in 2025 and the World Pride event in 2028.

 

The Christopher Street Day (CSD) is one of the most significant social and cultural events in Berlin. It was first held in 1979 and has been organized annually for 46 years. This year's parade saw over 100,000 participants marching on foot and more than 75 open-top trucks. The procession started from Leipziger Street in central Berlin passing, the German Federal Council (Bundesrat), and notable locations such as Potsdamer Platz, Schöneberg, Nollendorfplatz, and the Berlin Victory Column, before concluding at the historically significant Strasse des 17. Juni.
